Traveling Blogger From UK Discovers Swankety Swank… & We Discover Her.

I recently enjoyed finding a lovely little ode to our shop tucked away in a corner of the net I had never ventured into, jumping back several years. It gives one a pleasant perspective on just how long we’ve been “keeping on” and of course it’s always fantastic to be appreciated. It was an honor to be listed  as a highlight of her trip with the other greats of  San Francisco like the Golden Gate Bridge, the Painted Ladies, and delectable cupcakes.

Commentary, Winter Hours, and more musings on these last days of the year…

A commenter  looking for the hours on our site put a fire under me to get this information out there.  So here are the WINTER HOLIDAY HOURS.

But before I give you those, first take a look at a thoughtful bit of commentary in CNN’s Geekout blog. They linked to us in their Steampunk reference to the “Glue some Gears on it” blogpost.

'Sherlock' and 'Hugo' get extra steamy

"Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" starring Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law.

My favorite quote from this article, (regarding the idea that Steampunk may be too mainstream) was expressed by author Emilie P. Bush when she said, “I think a rising tide lifts all boats here. There is great creativity to be had, and in general, steampunk is an optimistic movement. It’s a very loving and supportive subculture.” Continue reading “Commentary, Winter Hours, and more musings on these last days of the year…”

Swankety Swank Holiday 2011 Inspiration Catalog is Here!

This year, we wanted a little something extra special, something that will really help you get to know Swankety Swank and our artists and designers a little bit better and grow to love them just as much as we do.

Over the past several months, I’ve been working hard with Yabette and the artists and designers of Swankety Swank to create a holiday catalog featuring their work.  Some of the artists took me up on my offer to do mini-shoots around the city to make this catalog extra special.   With my 4 year-old in tow, and loving every minute of it, we found some of the prettiest spots in San Francisco to show-off their work and personalities.

It’s been a year of ups and downs, but we are all feeling thankful for the support we’ve received from the community, and we want to thank you all for being a part of the Swankety Swank community, for supporting local artists and sustainable practices!

Next week, a digital mini-Swank Speak will be released, so stop back and check it out.

Happy Reading!
