Yabette’s Art Furniture…….

How does Yabette create her art furniture?

Yabette turns old cast-offs into treasures with her art furniture. Each piece is selected for it’s design and structural soundness, it is then cleaned, sanded, refinished, hand painted and clear coated with earth friendly, low VOC paints. An Eco Conscious alternative to cookie cutter manufacturing, we believe in splendid flaws, attractive character, and long lasting products.

What inspires the hand-painted art work on Yabette’s pieces?

Yabette is inspired by the Earth with all of its beautiful plant and animal life. She also loves mythic creatures, rusty machinery, and Sugar Skulls.

Positive Spending…..

What is Conscious Consumer Commodities?

These are goods that do not hurt the Earth and will not hurt future generations because of their existence. Things which are made overseas under dire working conditions, then shipped in large quantities, then trucked to chain stores are detrimental not only to our current Earth and humanity, but to the future generations who will pay for the “so called bargains” of today.

Why is shopping local important?

When you give local folks your money, they spend locally, the city gets the tax money and everyone local benefits!

Is there a persuasive economic impact to shopping local?

Yes! The local, hand-made movement is contributing to our country’s economic recovery. And the potential to do more sustainable good is exponentially better than what we’ve already seen. Locally made goods add significant dollars to the economy. A 2007 study in North Carolina showed that craft adds $206 million dollars a year to their local economy. Even more impressive are the statistics that show that $68 more per $100, per person, stays in the local  economy when spent locally. That’s $25 more than when we spend our money at a chain store.  That goes for ALL local businesses.

Etc…….

Is Swankety Swank a costume shop?

No. We offer alternative expressive clothing that works well for an event or in pieces with your basics. As Heidi Klum would say, “We don’t love fashion to blend in”.

What is steam punk?
